PhonerLite Softphone

PhonerLite Softphone Setup with Voyced

PhonerLite is a free SIP softphone for Windows computers.

With PhonerLite, you use your Voyced telephone number to make and receive calls directly from your computer.

You only need an internet connection, your Voyced account details and a microphone with speakers or a headset.

This guide explains how to install PhonerLite, connect your Voyced account, configure the main features and test your calls.

1. What you need

Before starting, prepare:

  • A Windows computer.

  • A working internet connection.

  • Your Voyced DID (telephone number or SIP username).

  • Your Voyced Service Password.

  • A microphone and speakers, or a headset.

Download PhonerLite

Official download page:

https://lite.phoner.de/download_en.htm

The latest stable version at the time of writing is PhonerLite 3.46, released on 12 October 2026.

PhonerLite offers several download options.

Version Description
Setup 64-bit Recommended for most Windows computers
Setup 32-bit For older 32-bit Windows systems
Setup ARM64 For compatible Windows on ARM devices
Portable ZIP Runs without a traditional installation
Beta Testing versions with features still under development

For most users, choose the standard 64-bit installer.

PhonerLite is freeware for both personal and business use. The software is not open source.

PhonerLite is designed for Windows. Native macOS, Android and iOS applications are not available.

2. Find your Voyced account details

Before configuring PhonerLite, locate your telephone account credentials.

  1. Log in to your Voyced Hosted IPPBX.

  2. Navigate to Cloud PBX / IP Centrex > Phone Lines.

  3. Find the telephone number you want to connect.

  4. Select the wrench icon beside the number.

  5. Use the displayed DID as your SIP username.

  6. Open My Profile > Settings to locate your Service Password.

Your Service Password is specific to your VoIP account and differs from your web interface password.

Keep both details available for the setup.

3. Install PhonerLite

  1. Download the correct PhonerLite installer.

  2. Open the downloaded file.

  3. Follow the installation instructions.

  4. Start PhonerLite.

  5. Allow access through Windows Firewall if prompted for the network you trust.

  6. Allow the application to use your microphone.

The first time PhonerLite starts, you will be guided through creating a SIP account.

If you have already used PhonerLite, you can open the account setup through Configuration > New.

4. Configure your Voyced SIP account

PhonerLite provides a setup wizard to guide you through the process.

Step 1. Start the configuration wizard

  1. Open PhonerLite.

  2. Select the Configuration tab.

  3. Click New.

  4. Select Manual Configuration when prompted for a provider.

You will now enter the Voyced connection details.

Step 2. Enter the SIP server

On the server configuration screen, enter:

PhonerLite field Voyced setting
Proxy/Registrar sip.voyced.eu
Realm/Domain sip.voyced.eu
STUN Server Leave empty

The Proxy/Registrar identifies the Voyced SIP server.

The Realm/Domain tells PhonerLite which SIP domain to use for your account.

Leave the STUN Server field empty for the standard Voyced configuration.

Click the right-arrow button to continue.

Step 3. Enter your Voyced credentials

Complete the user information screen.

PhonerLite field Voyced setting
Username Your Voyced DID
Authentication Name Your Voyced DID, if required
Password Your Voyced Service Password
Displayed Name Your name or company name

PhonerLite allows the Authentication Name field to remain empty when the normal username is sufficient.

For Voyced, use your DID if a separate authentication username is requested.

Enter the Service Password exactly as provided by Voyced.

Click the right-arrow button to continue.

Step 4. Complete the setup

PhonerLite displays a summary of your account details.

  1. Check the SIP server.

  2. Check the username.

  3. Enter a profile name, such as Voyced, if requested.

  4. Click the tick or Finish button to save.

  5. Allow PhonerLite to register with Voyced.

Step 5. Check registration

Look at the status bar along the bottom of the application.

A successful connection should show your selected SIP profile as registered.

If the application shows registration failed or a connection error, return to Configuration and check your credentials and server settings.

Once registered, PhonerLite is ready for a test call.

5. Check the network settings

The standard Voyced connection uses SIP over UDP.

To verify the transport setting:

  1. Open the Configuration tab.

  2. Select Network.

  3. Locate Preferred Connection Type.

  4. Select UDP.

  5. Save your changes.

For the standard setup, use:

Setting Value
SIP server sip.voyced.eu
SIP server port 5060
Preferred connection UDP
Register Enabled
STUN server Empty

You do not need to enter a separate proxy server because the Proxy/Registrar field already contains your Voyced SIP server.

Alternative Voyced connection methods

Voyced provides several server connection methods.

Connection method Server Port
Preferred DNS NAPTR sip.voyced.eu 0
Alternative DNS SRV sip.voyced.eu 5060
Traditional SIP sip.voyced.eu 5060
Secondary SIP server sipnl.voyced.eu 5060

PhonerLite supports DNS SRV lookups, but its standard configuration does not offer the same NAPTR controls found on some IP telephones.

Use sip.voyced.eu as the primary server.

If you need to test the secondary server, change the Proxy/Registrar and, where appropriate, Realm/Domain fields to sipnl.voyced.eu and reconnect.

For everyday use, retain the primary server unless Voyced Support advises otherwise.

6. Configure your audio devices

PhonerLite lets you choose your microphone, speakers and headset directly from the main window.

Select the microphone

  1. Open PhonerLite.

  2. Find the microphone symbol near the audio controls.

  3. Right-click the microphone button.

  4. Select the correct recording device.

  5. Adjust the microphone volume if needed.

Select the speakers

  1. Right-click the speaker button.

  2. Select your preferred audio output device.

  3. Adjust the playback volume.

  4. Test the sound using a telephone call.

If a red cross appears over the microphone or speaker icon, the device is inactive or muted.

Click the corresponding icon to change its state.

Using a USB headset

PhonerLite supports compatible USB headsets, including certain Jabra and EPOS models.

Depending on your headset, you might be able to answer or end calls directly using its buttons.

For business calling, a headset is often more practical than a computer's built-in microphone and speakers.

7. Configure audio codecs

Audio codecs determine how your voice is transmitted during a call.

PhonerLite supports several codecs, including G.711, G.722, G.729, Opus, G.726 and iLBC.

For standard Voyced telephone calls, start with:

Codec Recommended use
G.711 u-law (PCMU) Standard telephone audio
G.711 A-law (PCMA) Standard telephone audio
G.729 Optional compressed audio
G.722 HD audio where supported
Opus Optional on compatible routes

For broad compatibility, PCMU and PCMA are good starting choices.

Change the codec settings

  1. Open Configuration.

  2. Select Codecs.

  3. Enable G.711 u-law and G.711 A-law.

  4. Move your preferred codec higher in the list.

  5. Save your changes.

PhonerLite uses the order of the enabled codecs as its preference list.

The final codec depends on the other system involved in the call.

Echo cancellation

If you hear an echo during conversations:

  1. Open Configuration > Codecs.

  2. Find Echo Cancellation.

  3. Enable this option.

  4. Save and test again.

If you use a headset, echo problems are generally less common.

Leave Silence Detection disabled initially.

8. Making and receiving calls

Make a telephone call

  1. Open PhonerLite.

  2. Check that your Voyced account is registered.

  3. Enter a telephone number in the Destination Number field.

  4. Click the green call button.

  5. Wait for the other person to answer.

To end the call, use the disconnect button.

Receive an incoming call

When someone calls your Voyced number:

  1. PhonerLite displays the incoming call.

  2. Select the call.

  3. Click the answer button.

  4. Speak using your selected microphone and speakers.

PhonerLite needs to remain running and registered to receive incoming calls.

You may minimise the application while working on other programmes.

Call history

PhonerLite includes a Log Book containing information about previous calls.

Open the Log Book tab to review incoming, outgoing and missed calls.

You can select an earlier number to call again.

9. International dialling

Voyced uses the same international dialling format across all your devices.

Always dial:

00 + Country Code + Telephone Number

For example, to call Voyced in the United Kingdom:

00442035000202

You use this format regardless of your location.

Automatically convert + into 00

PhonerLite includes a useful option for people who store international telephone numbers beginning with a plus sign.

For example, a contact saved as:

+442035000202

needs to be dialled through Voyced as:

00442035000202

PhonerLite version 3.22 and later supports this conversion.

To enable the feature:

  1. Open PhonerLite.

  2. Select Configuration.

  3. Open the User settings for your Voyced profile.

  4. Find the option for replacing a leading + with 00 on outgoing calls.

  5. Enable the option.

  6. Save the configuration.

Now, when you select a telephone number beginning with +, PhonerLite replaces the leading plus sign with 00 before placing the call.

Numbers already beginning with 00 do not require conversion.

This is useful when importing contacts or opening telephone links from other applications.

10. Voicemail setup

Your Voyced voicemail access number is:

1233

Listen to voicemail

  1. Open PhonerLite.

  2. Check that your Voyced account is registered.

  3. Enter 1233 in the Destination Number field.

  4. Click Call.

  5. Follow the spoken instructions.

You will be connected to your Voyced voicemail service.

Voicemail notifications

PhonerLite supports Message Waiting Indication (MWI).

Where the connected SIP service sends the required notifications, PhonerLite may indicate when voicemail messages are waiting.

You can always dial 1233 directly to access your messages.

PhonerLite's own answering machine

Some newer PhonerLite versions include their own voicemail or answering-machine functions.

These are separate from the voicemail service provided by Voyced.

For a standard setup, use Voyced voicemail through 1233 and configure additional local answering-machine functions only if needed.

11. Caller ID settings

Caller ID is the telephone number displayed to the person receiving your call.

By default, Voyced displays the DID assigned to your account.

PhonerLite includes a Displayed Name field for your name or company.

Changing this field does not automatically change the outbound telephone number sent by Voyced.

Displaying a different telephone number

If you want to show another number, such as your main business telephone number:

  1. Log in to your Voyced client area.

  2. Open a sales support ticket.

  3. Use the subject: Outbound Caller ID adjustment.

  4. List the Voyced DID you are calling from.

  5. Provide the telephone number you want displayed.

Voyced will review the request.

When the requested number already belongs to your Voyced account, the change is normally straightforward.

When the number belongs to another provider, additional verification and proof of ownership are required.

Voyced Internal DIDs and extension numbers must never be used as public outbound Caller ID numbers.

Leave PhonerLite's advanced Caller ID signalling settings unchanged unless advised otherwise.

12. Using multiple Voyced telephone numbers

PhonerLite supports multiple SIP profiles.

For example, you might create profiles for:

  • Your main office number.

  • Your personal business number.

  • A second business number in another country.

Add another account

  1. Open Configuration.

  2. Click New.

  3. Select Manual Configuration.

  4. Enter the additional Voyced DID and Service Password.

  5. Use sip.voyced.eu as the server.

  6. Save the profile.

Repeat for additional Voyced accounts.

Switch between profiles

Only one PhonerLite SIP profile is active at a time.

To switch:

  1. Find the profile selector in the status bar.

  2. Select the account you want to use.

  3. Allow the selected account to register.

  4. Make or receive calls through the selected account.

Other saved profiles are not simultaneously registered.

If you need to receive calls on several Voyced accounts at once, use suitable call routing through your Voyced Hosted IPPBX or another compatible softphone supporting multiple active registrations.

13. Additional call handling features

PhonerLite includes several functions for everyday telephone calls.

Call hold

During an active call, click Hold to pause the conversation.

Click the hold control again to resume.

Blind call transfer

A blind transfer sends an active caller directly to another telephone number.

  1. During the call, enter the destination in the Destination Number field.

  2. Drag the active call onto that field.

  3. PhonerLite initiates the transfer.

The receiving party answers the transferred call.

Attended call transfer

An attended transfer lets you speak to the receiving party first.

  1. Place the first call on hold.

  2. Call the person who should receive the transfer.

  3. Speak to the receiving person.

  4. Drag the active call onto the held call.

  5. PhonerLite initiates the transfer.

The final transfer behaviour depends on your Voyced account configuration.

Call recording

PhonerLite supports recording telephone calls to a WAV file.

To record a call:

  1. Right-click the active call.

  2. Select the recording option.

  3. Start the recording.

  4. Stop recording when finished.

The recording file is stored on your computer, and its filename appears in the call log.

Follow the applicable privacy and consent requirements when recording conversations.

DTMF telephone menus

DTMF allows you to press numbers during a call.

For example, you might use these tones when accessing voicemail or an automated telephone menu.

PhonerLite supports DTMF through RTP and SIP INFO.

Use the default setting unless you experience a problem with telephone menu selections.

14. Contacts and telephone book

PhonerLite includes a telephone book for storing frequently called numbers.

Add a contact

  1. Open the Phone Book tab.

  2. Add a new contact.

  3. Enter the person's name.

  4. Enter their telephone number.

  5. Save.

For international numbers, use the Voyced 00 format.

Alternatively, if you enabled automatic conversion of a leading +, you may retain contacts in that format.

Import contacts

PhonerLite supports contact imports, including vCard files.

Recent versions allow you to drag supported contact files directly into the telephone book.

After importing contacts, test an international number to confirm the correct dialling format.

15. Troubleshooting

Account does not register

Check the following details:

Setting Required value
Proxy/Registrar sip.voyced.eu
Realm/Domain sip.voyced.eu
Username Your Voyced DID
Authentication Name Your DID, if required
Password Your Service Password
Register Enabled
Connection type UDP

Also verify your internet connection.

Authentication error

Check your DID and Service Password.

Make sure you have not entered your web interface login password.

Re-enter the Service Password and save your profile.

Connection timeout

Check the SIP server address and internet connection.

If you use a firewall or network security application, check whether PhonerLite is allowed to communicate.

Try another internet connection to help identify local network problems.

Incoming calls do not ring

Confirm that:

  • PhonerLite is running.

  • Your Voyced profile is registered.

  • The correct profile is active.

  • Your Windows audio settings work.

  • Your Voyced number is not forwarding all incoming calls elsewhere.

If the same DID is registered on several devices, test using one device first.

No audio or one-way audio

Check your microphone and speakers.

Make sure PhonerLite has permission to use the microphone.

Verify that G.711 u-law and A-law are enabled.

Try another network if the issue continues.

Poor audio quality

Check your internet connection for instability or high network usage.

Use a wired connection where possible.

Try a different headset or microphone.

Check the call statistics available in PhonerLite.

Calls fail immediately

Check that the account is registered.

For international calls, confirm the number begins with 00.

Verify sufficient call credit and that the destination is permitted.

International contacts with + fail

Open Configuration > User.

Enable the option to replace a leading + with 00 for outgoing calls.

Save the configuration and try again.

Wrong Caller ID

Check which Voyced SIP profile is active.

Remember that PhonerLite's Displayed Name field does not override the authorised outbound telephone number.

Contact Voyced Support if you need an adjustment.

Calls end unexpectedly

Check whether the same issue occurs on several calls.

Try another internet connection.

Keep a record of an affected destination, call time and approximate duration.

Provide these details to Voyced Support for investigation.

Collect diagnostic information

PhonerLite includes a Debug view showing SIP connection activity.

If Voyced Support requests connection details:

  1. Open PhonerLite.

  2. Select the Debug tab.

  3. Reproduce the problem.

  4. Review the registration or call messages.

  5. Provide the requested details to Voyced Support.

Do not share your Service Password or full account configuration file.

16. Test your Voyced connection

Once your account registers, perform the following tests.

Outgoing calls

  1. Confirm the account status shows Registered.

  2. Dial another telephone number.

  3. Confirm the call connects.

  4. Check audio in both directions.

  5. Verify your outbound Caller ID.

Incoming calls

  1. Call your Voyced number from another telephone.

  2. Confirm PhonerLite rings.

  3. Answer the call.

  4. Check audio in both directions.

International calls

Dial an international number beginning with 00.

If you enabled automatic plus-sign conversion, test a contact saved with +.

Voicemail

Dial 1233 and confirm you reach your Voyced voicemail.

Background calling

Minimise PhonerLite.

Call your Voyced number and confirm the application still receives the incoming call.

17. Final setup checklist

Before using PhonerLite for everyday calls, confirm:

  • Your Voyced account registers successfully.

  • Outgoing calls work.

  • Incoming calls ring.

  • Audio works in both directions.

  • The correct Caller ID is displayed.

  • Voicemail works through 1233.

  • International numbers use the 00 prefix.

  • Optional plus-sign conversion works.

  • Your microphone and speakers are configured.

  • PhonerLite continues receiving calls while minimised.

Your PhonerLite softphone is now ready for everyday use.
