SIP Trunk Setup for Mitel MiVoice 6930 IP Phone

Setting up your device with Voyced as your Business VoIP Provider.


What You’ll Need

  • Mitel MiVoice 6930 IP phone

  • Your Voyced account details:

    • Account / telephone number: Your-Voyced-DID

    • Service password: YourServicePassword

    • SIP server: sip.voyced.eu

  • Access to the phone’s web interface (via IP address in browser)

  • Admin login credentials for the phone


Requirements Before You Begin

  • Ensure the phone has SIP firmware (some models may be provisioned for Mitel systems and need firmware change)

  • Change the default admin password

  • Stable internet connection

  • If using a firewall, allow outbound UDP to sip.voyced.eu and sipnl.voyced.eu on port 5060

  • Disable SIP ALG on your router

  • STUN must be disabled


SIP Trunk Setup Steps

1. Log in to the Web Interface

  • Press Settings > Status on the phone to find the IP address

  • Enter the IP in your browser

  • Log in as admin

 

2. SIP Account Registration

Go to Account Configuration:

  • Display Name: Voyced

  • User Name: Your-Voyced-DID

  • Authentication Name: Your-Voyced-DID

  • Authentication Password: YourServicePassword

  • Caller ID Header: PAI-RPID-F

 

3. SIP Server Configuration

  • Primary SIP Server Address: sip.voyced.eu

  • Port: 5060

  • Transport Protocol: UDP

  • DNS Mode: SRV (fallback to host and port)

If NAPTR or SRV not supported:

  • Secondary SIP Server Address: sipnl.voyced.eu

  • Port: 5060

 

4. Voicemail

  • Voicemail Number: 1233

  • Subscribe for MWI: Enabled

 

5. Codec Settings

Go to Audio > Codec Preferences:

List in this priority order (from higher quality to lower):

  • G722 **

  • G723 **

  • G726 **

  • PCMU (u-law)

  • PCMA (a-law)

  • G711

  • G729

  • Opus **

  • iLBC **

  • AMR-WB **

  • AMR **

  • GSM

  • Any other codecs your device supports

Codecs marked with ** may be supported but aren't guaranteed to work across all global routes.
If you have audio issues, switch back to G711 or G729 and test again.

 

6. Advanced Settings

  • Keep Alive Type: UDP

  • Keep Alive Interval: 30 seconds

  • Enable Rport: Yes

  • SIP Version: RFC3261

  • Enable Strict Proxy: Yes

  • Transaction Timers (T1/T2/T4): 500 / 4000 / 5000

  • RTP Encryption (SRTP): Disabled

  • Registration Failure Retry Time: 32 seconds

  • Strict UA Match: Yes

  • Enable RFC4475: Yes

 

Save and Finalise

  • Click Apply or Save

  • Disable unused accounts

  • Reboot if required

 

Testing Your Setup

  • Call Your-Voyced-DID from another phone

  • Make an outbound call

  • Confirm:

    • Audio is clear in both directions

    • DTMF works in voicemail/menus

    • Caller ID is correct


Final Tips

  • Never expose the admin interface to the internet

  • Always use UDP

  • DNS order: NAPTR → SRV → host fallback

  • Keep firmware up to date

  • Use VLAN or reserved IP if possible

  • Voyced SIP accounts do not guarantee emergency call routing
