-
Find your telephone number and open its details using the wrench icon.
-
Copy the DID shown for the line. This is your SIP username.
-
Open My Profile > Settings and locate the Service Password.
The Service Password is different from your web interface password.
Keep these details ready for the next steps.
2. Set up Linphone on Windows, macOS or Linux
The following instructions apply to the current Linphone 6 interface.
Step 1. Open Linphone
-
Install and launch Linphone.
-
On the welcome screen, choose Third-Party SIP Account, sometimes displayed as Use a Third-Party SIP Account.
-
Linphone displays information about features unavailable with external SIP providers.
-
Select I understand to continue.
You do not need to create a Linphone account. Your Voyced account provides the SIP connection.
Step 2. Enter your Voyced connection details
Complete the account form using the following settings:
| Linphone setting | Voyced value |
|---|---|
| Username | Your Voyced DID |
| Password | Your Voyced Service Password |
| Domain | sip.voyced.eu |
| Display name | Your name or company name |
| Transport | UDP |
Select UDP explicitly. Some Linphone versions offer TLS as the initial transport setting.
Step 3. Advanced settings
Open Advanced Settings or Advanced Parameters if available.
Use the following values where Linphone requests them:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP server / Registrar | sip.voyced.eu |
| SIP port | 5060 |
| Registrar URI, if required | sip.voyced.eu |
| Authentication username, if required | Your Voyced DID |
| Outbound proxy | Leave empty |
| Register | Enabled |
| STUN server | Disabled |
If the application provides a single domain field and does not request a separate registrar address, use the domain entered in Step 2.
Step 4. Connect
-
Select Login or Connect.
-
Allow Linphone to register with Voyced.
-
Check the account status.
A successful connection shows a green status indicator or a message such as Connected or Registered.
Your account is ready for an initial test call.
3. Set up Linphone on Android or iOS
The mobile applications use a similar setup process.
Step 1. Install and open the application
-
Install Linphone from your device's app store.
-
Open the application.
-
Allow microphone access when requested.
-
Select the option to use a third-party SIP account.
-
Read the information about third-party accounts and select I understand.
Step 2. Enter your account details
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Username | Your Voyced DID |
| Password | Your Voyced Service Password |
| Domain | sip.voyced.eu |
| Display name | Your name or company |
| Transport | UDP |
Select Advanced Settings if you need to specify the registrar, authentication username or port.
Use the values from Section 2.
Step 3. Finish registration
-
Select Login.
-
Check the account status.
-
Confirm the account shows Connected or Registered.
-
Make a test call.
When registration succeeds, you should be able to place calls through Voyced.
For incoming calls, please also read Section 8 about mobile background operation.
4. Adding another SIP account
Linphone supports multiple SIP accounts on one device.
For example, you might want separate accounts for your direct business number and another Voyced line.
To add another account:
-
Open Linphone.
-
Select your profile picture or avatar.
-
Choose Add Account.
-
Select Log in with a third-party SIP account.
-
Enter the additional Voyced DID and its Service Password.
-
Select UDP and the Voyced SIP server.
-
Save and register.
To change which account you use for outgoing calls, select the appropriate account from your profile or account selector.
Each Voyced DID has its own connection details.
5. SIP server settings
For reference, these are the standard Voyced connection settings.
Recommended server
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Primary SIP server | sip.voyced.eu |
| SIP transport | UDP |
| Standard port | 5060 |
Voyced also supports DNS-based server discovery.
Where supported by the application:
| Method | Server | Port |
|---|---|---|
| DNS NAPTR | sip.voyced.eu | 0 |
| DNS SRV | sip.voyced.eu | 5060 |
| Traditional SIP | sip.voyced.eu | 5060 |
| Secondary server | sipnl.voyced.eu | 5060 |
The standard UDP connection on port 5060 is suitable when Linphone does not offer separate DNS discovery settings.
A secondary server is only needed when your application offers an appropriate backup registrar option.
6. Audio settings and codecs
Linphone supports several audio codecs.
For standard Voyced telephone calls, start with:
| Codec | Description |
|---|---|
| PCMU (G.711 u-law) | Standard telephone-quality audio |
| PCMA (G.711 a-law) | Standard telephone-quality audio |
| G.729 | Optional, where available and supported |
| G.722 | Optional HD audio |
| Opus | Optional, for compatible connections |
PCMU and PCMA are suitable starting choices.
Adjust the audio settings
-
Open Linphone Settings.
-
Find the Audio or Audio Codecs section.
-
Confirm PCMU and PCMA are enabled.
-
Where supported, move these codecs higher in the preference order.
-
Save the changes.
Some Linphone versions do not offer manual codec ordering.
If your version does not include a particular codec, leave the available codecs unchanged unless you experience a problem.
Microphone and speaker
Select the correct audio devices in Linphone's audio settings.
For desktop use, a USB headset with a microphone often provides clearer conversations and reduces background noise.
Enable echo cancellation if available.
7. Making and receiving calls
Make an outbound call
-
Open Linphone.
-
Select the Calls tab.
-
Open the dialler.
-
Enter the telephone number.
-
Press the call button.
The call uses your selected Voyced account.
International calls
Voyced uses the same international dialling format across your devices, regardless of your current location.
Always start an international number with 00.
Format:
00 + Country Code + Telephone Number
Example: to call Voyced in the United Kingdom, dial:
00442035000202
Save international contacts using this format.
If your phone imports contacts with a plus sign (+), use Linphone's number formatting options where available to ensure the outgoing number follows Voyced's 00 format.
Receive incoming calls
When someone calls your Voyced telephone number, Linphone rings as long as the account is registered and reachable.
Select Answer to accept the call or Decline to reject the call.
For mobile devices, background operation is important. See Section 8.
8. Important: receiving calls on mobile devices
Linphone supports Voyced SIP accounts on Android and iOS, but there is an important difference between desktop and mobile operation.
Push notifications and third-party SIP accounts
Linphone's standard mobile push notification service supports Linphone accounts, not ordinary third-party SIP accounts.
This means Linphone does not provide its standard incoming-call push notifications for your Voyced account.
If the operating system closes or suspends Linphone, incoming calls might not reach the application until you reopen the app and registration resumes.
Android recommendations
For improved background availability:
-
Open Android Settings > Apps > Linphone.
-
Allow background data usage.
-
Check battery optimisation settings.
-
Allow Linphone to run in the background.
-
Enable application notifications.
-
In Linphone, check for an available Keep app alive using Service option and test its behaviour.
The exact options differ between Android versions and manufacturers.
Keeping Linphone active helps maintain registration, but does not guarantee incoming calls while the app is suspended.
iPhone and iPad
iOS manages background applications more strictly.
Allow Linphone's required permissions and keep the application updated.
Because standard Linphone mobile push notifications do not support third-party SIP accounts, leaving Linphone running does not guarantee incoming calls while the app is in the background.
Test incoming calls
Before relying on Linphone for business calls:
-
Register your Voyced account.
-
Place an outgoing test call.
-
Call your Voyced number while Linphone is open.
-
Lock the device and repeat the test.
-
Leave Linphone in the background and test again.
-
Repeat using Wi-Fi and mobile data.
If you require reliable mobile incoming-call handling, contact Voyced Support to discuss suitable softphones or alternative call routing through your Hosted IPPBX.
9. Voicemail
Your Voyced voicemail access number is:
1233
Access voicemail
-
Open Linphone.
-
Select the dialler.
-
Enter
1233. -
Press Call.
-
Follow the voice instructions.
This connects you to the voicemail service for your Voyced account.
Voicemail notifications
Linphone supports Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) functionality, subject to the SIP service and application configuration.
Where supported, a voicemail notification or indicator may appear when a message is waiting.
You do not need voicemail notifications to access your messages. Dialling 1233 remains the direct method.
10. Caller ID settings
Caller ID is the telephone number displayed to the person receiving your call.
By default, Voyced sends the telephone number assigned to your SIP account.
The Display Name field in Linphone is used to identify your account and does not automatically change the outbound telephone number shown to recipients.
Showing a different telephone number
If you want outgoing calls to display another number, such as your main business line:
-
Log in to your Voyced client area.
-
Open a sales support ticket.
-
Use the subject: Outbound Caller ID adjustment.
-
Provide the Voyced DID you are calling from.
-
Provide the telephone number you want displayed.
If the requested Caller ID is not already assigned to your Voyced account, additional verification and proof of ownership are required.
Voyced Internal DIDs must not be used as public outbound Caller ID numbers.
11. Extra calling features
Linphone supports several everyday telephone functions.
Call hold
During a call, select Hold to place the current conversation on hold.
Select Resume to continue.
Call transfer
Linphone supports blind and attended SIP call transfers.
A blind transfer sends the caller directly to another number.
An attended transfer lets you speak with the destination before completing the transfer.
To transfer a call, use the Transfer option in Linphone's active-call controls.
The final transfer behaviour depends on your Voyced account and call-routing configuration.
DTMF telephone tones
DTMF allows you to press numbers when using voicemail, automated telephone menus or other interactive systems.
Linphone supports common DTMF methods, including RFC 4733 and SIP INFO.
Keep the default setting initially.
If telephone menu selections do not work, review the DTMF configuration or contact Voyced Support.
Other Linphone features
Some Linphone features, such as its own group chats and hosted conferencing, require Linphone's services.
These features are separate from the normal voice calling functions available through your Voyced account.
12. Troubleshooting
Linphone does not register
Check:
-
The username matches your Voyced DID.
-
You entered the correct Service Password.
-
The domain is
sip.voyced.eu. -
Transport is set to UDP.
-
The standard SIP port is 5060.
-
Your internet connection works.
If you receive an authentication failure, check the account credentials before changing other settings.
Calls fail immediately
Confirm the account is registered.
Check the destination number and use 00 for international calls.
Also confirm your Voyced account has sufficient available call credit and the destination is allowed.
Incoming calls do not arrive
Check your registration status.
On a mobile device, see Section 8 for background application and push notification limitations.
If the same Voyced DID is registered on several devices, try a single device first to help identify registration or routing conflicts.
Calls connect, but you hear no audio
Check your microphone and speaker settings.
Try PCMU and PCMA.
Test using another internet connection to help identify network or firewall restrictions.
Audio breaks up
Check the quality of your internet connection.
Try a wired connection on desktop or a stronger Wi-Fi signal.
Avoid busy or unstable networks when making business calls.
Calls disconnect when switching networks
Moving between Wi-Fi and mobile data changes your network connection.
This sometimes interrupts SIP registration or active calls.
Allow Linphone to reconnect before making another call.
Wrong Caller ID
Check the Voyced number assigned to your account.
If you require another authorised Caller ID, contact Voyced Support.
Changing the Display Name in Linphone does not change your public outbound number.
13. Final setup checks
Before using Linphone for everyday calls, verify the following:
-
Your Voyced account displays Connected or Registered.
-
Outgoing calls work.
-
Incoming calls ring when Linphone is active.
-
Audio works in both directions.
-
Your outbound Caller ID is correct.
-
Voicemail access works using
1233. -
International calls work using
00. -
On mobile, you have tested incoming calls while the screen is locked and while Linphone is in the background.
Your Linphone account is ready for use once these tests succeed.
