MicroSIP Softphone Setup with Voyced

MicroSIP is a free, lightweight SIP softphone for Windows.

With MicroSIP, you use your Voyced telephone number to make and receive calls directly from your computer, without needing a separate desk telephone.

MicroSIP supports multiple SIP account profiles, voicemail, contacts, call transfers and other useful calling features.

This guide explains how to install MicroSIP, connect your Voyced account and configure the main features.

1. Before you start

You need:

  • A Windows computer.

  • A stable internet connection.

  • Your Voyced DID (telephone number or account username).

  • Your Voyced Service Password.

  • A microphone and speakers, or preferably a headset.

Download MicroSIP

The latest stable version at the time of this guide is 3.22.20, released on 17 October 2026.

Two editions are available.

Edition Description
MicroSIP Full application with audio and video support
MicroSIP Lite Smaller application without video support

Both are free.

MicroSIP also offers portable versions, which run without a traditional installation.

For everyday use, we recommend the standard MicroSIP Windows installer.

MicroSIP does not offer native Android or iOS versions.

Find your Voyced account details

  1. Log in to your Voyced Hosted IPPBX.

  2. Open Cloud PBX / IP Centrex > Phone Lines.

  3. Find the telephone number you want to use.

  4. Select the wrench icon beside the number.

  5. Use the displayed DID as your SIP username.

  6. Open My Profile > Settings to locate your Service Password.

Your Service Password is different from your Voyced web login password.

2. Install MicroSIP

  1. Download the current MicroSIP installer.

  2. Open the downloaded file.

  3. Follow the Windows installation instructions.

  4. Start MicroSIP.

  5. Allow microphone access if Windows requests permission.

MicroSIP normally runs in the Windows system tray, beside the clock.

Closing the main MicroSIP window usually minimises the application instead of closing the program.

To reopen MicroSIP, select its system tray icon.

3. Connect your Voyced account

Step 1. Add a SIP account

  1. Open MicroSIP.

  2. Select the menu button in the upper-right corner.

  3. Choose Add Account.

  4. The Account configuration window opens.

Choose Add Account rather than the Local Account option.

The Local Account is for direct SIP calls between devices, without registering with Voyced.

Step 2. Enter your Voyced SIP settings

Use the following configuration.

MicroSIP field Voyced setting
Account Name Voyced
SIP Server sip.voyced.eu
SIP Proxy Leave empty
Username Your Voyced DID
Domain sip.voyced.eu
Login Your Voyced DID
Password Your Voyced Service Password
Display Name Your name or company name
Voicemail Number 1233
Media Encryption Disabled for initial setup
Transport UDP
Public Address Auto
Publish Presence Disabled
ICE Disabled
Allow IP Rewrite Leave at default
Disable Session Timers Leave unchecked

The Account Name is simply a label to help you recognise your account.

Use your Voyced DID in both the Username and Login fields.

The Password field must contain your Service Password, not your Voyced website login password.

Leave the SIP Proxy field empty.

Step 3. Save the account

  1. Check the information you entered.

  2. Select Save.

  3. Allow MicroSIP to register with Voyced.

A successful registration displays a green status indicator and the status Online.

Your account is now connected.

If the status remains offline or shows an error, check the details in Section 13.

4. Configure general settings

After connecting your account, check MicroSIP's main settings.

  1. Open MicroSIP.

  2. Select the menu button.

  3. Choose Settings.

Start with these values.

Setting Recommended value
Speaker Your preferred speaker or headset
Microphone Your preferred microphone
Ring Device Your preferred ringing device
Audio codecs PCMU and PCMA enabled
VAD Disabled
Echo Cancellation (EC) Enabled
Force Codec for Incoming Disabled
Use DNS SRV Enabled, if available
STUN Server Disabled / empty
DTMF Method Auto
Source Port Default / automatic
RTP Ports Default
Enable Local Account Disabled
Check for Updates Enabled

MicroSIP supports more advanced settings, but the defaults are suitable for most Voyced accounts.

Once your first calls work, you may adjust individual settings to suit your needs.

Speaker and microphone

For clear conversations, select a suitable headset.

If you use your laptop's built-in microphone and speakers, enable echo cancellation to reduce feedback.

5. SIP server and DNS settings

Voyced provides different ways to connect to its SIP servers.

The preferred configuration uses DNS-based server discovery, where supported by your software.

Connection method Server Port
Preferred DNS NAPTR sip.voyced.eu 0
Alternative DNS SRV sip.voyced.eu 5060
Traditional SIP sip.voyced.eu 5060
Secondary SIP server sipnl.voyced.eu 5060

DNS SRV in MicroSIP

MicroSIP offers a Use DNS SRV option in versions where this setting is available.

To enable this option:

  1. Open MicroSIP.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Find Use DNS SRV.

  4. Enable the option.

  5. Save your changes.

DNS SRV allows your application to use the SIP server information published in Voyced's DNS records.

MicroSIP does not provide a separate NAPTR configuration option in its standard account screen.

Keep your SIP Server set to sip.voyced.eu.

If DNS SRV causes problems with your connection, return to the standard setup using UDP on port 5060.

Secondary server

Voyced also provides:

sipnl.voyced.eu

This is an alternative connection server.

If you need to test the secondary server, replace the SIP Server value with this address and reconnect.

Normally, leave the account configured with the primary server.

6. Audio codecs and call quality

Audio codecs control how your voice is transmitted during a call.

Voyced supports several codecs.

For reliable general telephone calling, use:

Codec Description
PCMU (G.711 u-law) Standard telephone audio
PCMA (G.711 a-law) Standard telephone audio
G.729 Optional compressed audio
G.722 HD audio where supported
Opus Optional, where supported

For most users, start with PCMU and PCMA.

MicroSIP supports additional codecs, but the complete telephone connection must support the selected codec.

Adjust codec settings

  1. Open MicroSIP > Settings.

  2. Find Available Codecs and Enabled Codecs.

  3. Make sure PCMU and PCMA appear under Enabled Codecs.

  4. Use the arrow buttons to move codecs between the lists.

  5. Use the priority arrows to change their order.

  6. Save your changes.

For broad compatibility, prioritise PCMU and PCMA.

For compatible HD connections, you may also test G.722.

If calls fail or audio is missing after changing the codecs, restore PCMU and PCMA and test again.

7. Making and receiving calls

Make an outbound call

  1. Open MicroSIP.

  2. Confirm the account status shows Online.

  3. Select the dialpad.

  4. Enter the telephone number.

  5. Select Call.

Your call is placed using your selected Voyced account.

Receive an incoming call

When somebody calls your Voyced telephone number, MicroSIP displays an incoming call notification.

Select Answer to accept the call.

Select Decline to reject the call.

You may also use these keyboard shortcuts when MicroSIP is the active window:

  • F2: Answer an incoming call.

  • F4: End or decline calls.

MicroSIP must remain running to receive incoming calls.

You may minimise MicroSIP to the Windows system tray.

Do Not Disturb

MicroSIP includes a DND button.

When enabled, Do Not Disturb prevents normal incoming calls from ringing.

If your account is registered but incoming calls do not ring, check whether DND is active.

8. Making international calls

Voyced uses one international dialling format across your devices.

Always dial:

00 + Country Code + Telephone Number

For example, to call Voyced in the United Kingdom:

00442035000202

Use this format regardless of where you are calling from.

Contacts saved with a plus sign

Some contact lists contain international telephone numbers beginning with +.

MicroSIP supports number rewriting through its Dial Plan setting.

You may configure MicroSIP to convert a leading + into 00 automatically.

Optional number rewriting rule

Open your Voyced SIP account settings and find Dial Plan.

Enter:

<+:00>x.|x.

This rule tells MicroSIP to:

  • Replace a leading + with 00.

  • Leave other dialled numbers unchanged.

For example:

+442035000202

becomes:

00442035000202

Numbers already starting with 00 remain unchanged.

Save the rule and test an international call.

If you do not need automatic number rewriting, leave Dial Plan empty and enter all international numbers directly using 00.

9. Voicemail setup

Your Voyced voicemail access number is:

1233

MicroSIP has a dedicated Voicemail Number field.

Configure voicemail

  1. Open MicroSIP.

  2. Select the menu button.

  3. Open Edit Account for your Voyced account.

  4. Find Voicemail Number.

  5. Enter 1233.

  6. Select Save.

Listen to voicemail

You have two options:

  1. Press the voicemail button in MicroSIP, if displayed.

  2. Dial 1233 directly.

Follow the spoken instructions to listen to your messages.

Voicemail notifications

MicroSIP supports voicemail message-waiting notifications.

Availability depends on the message-waiting information provided by the SIP service.

If you do not see a voicemail indicator, you may still access your messages by dialling 1233.

10. Caller ID settings

Caller ID is the telephone number displayed to the person receiving your call.

By default, Voyced sends the telephone number assigned to your SIP account.

MicroSIP includes a Display Name field, which identifies you in SIP signalling.

Changing this name does not automatically change your authorised outbound Caller ID.

Recent MicroSIP versions also support additional SIP identity features, including P-Asserted-Identity.

For a standard Voyced account, leave advanced Caller ID signalling settings unchanged.

Want to display a different number?

For example, you might want outgoing calls from your direct line to display your company's main telephone number.

Voyced supports authorised Caller ID adjustments.

To request a change:

  1. Log in to your Voyced client area.

  2. Open a sales support ticket.

  3. Use the subject: Outbound Caller ID adjustment.

  4. Provide the Voyced DID you are calling from.

  5. Provide the telephone number you want displayed.

If the requested number is outside your Voyced account, additional verification and proof of ownership are required.

Voyced Internal DIDs and extension numbers must not be used as public Caller ID numbers.

11. Using multiple Voyced accounts

MicroSIP supports multiple SIP account profiles.

For example, you might want separate profiles for your office telephone number and another international business number.

Add another Voyced account

  1. Open MicroSIP.

  2. Select the menu button.

  3. Choose Add Account.

  4. Enter the second Voyced DID and its Service Password.

  5. Use sip.voyced.eu for the server and domain.

  6. Save the account.

Switch between accounts

MicroSIP supports storing several SIP accounts, but only one SIP account is active at a time.

To switch:

  1. Open the MicroSIP menu.

  2. Select the account you want to use.

  3. Allow the selected account to register.

  4. Confirm the Online status.

  5. Make your call.

This differs from softphones supporting several registered telephone lines simultaneously.

If you need to receive incoming calls on several Voyced accounts at once, consider another compatible softphone or configure suitable call routing through your Voyced Hosted IPPBX.

12. Additional calling features

MicroSIP includes several useful features for everyday telephone calls.

Call hold

During a call, select Hold to place the conversation on hold.

Select Resume to continue.

Call transfer

MicroSIP supports blind and attended call transfers.

A blind transfer sends the caller directly to another telephone number.

An attended transfer lets you speak to the receiving party before completing the transfer.

For attended transfers:

  1. Open MicroSIP > Settings.

  2. Disable Single Call Mode.

  3. Open the Call Manager during a call.

  4. Use the available call controls to contact the second party.

  5. Select the attended transfer option to complete the transfer.

The final transfer behaviour depends on your Voyced service configuration.

Conference calling

MicroSIP's Call Manager supports conference calls.

To use this feature, disable Single Call Mode in Settings.

The Call Manager then provides the controls needed to manage several calls.

The number of simultaneous calls depends on your Voyced account's available call capacity.

Call recording

MicroSIP includes a local call recording feature.

Where enabled, the REC control starts or stops recording an active call.

Follow applicable consent and privacy requirements when recording conversations.

Contacts and call history

MicroSIP includes a local contacts list and call history.

To add a contact:

  1. Open the Contacts tab.

  2. Right-click an empty area.

  3. Select Add Contact.

  4. Enter the person's name and telephone number.

  5. Save.

Save international contacts using the Voyced 00 format, unless you configured the optional number rewriting rule.

DTMF telephone menu tones

DTMF allows you to enter numbers during a call, such as when accessing voicemail or an automated telephone menu.

MicroSIP's DTMF Method defaults to Auto.

Keep Auto selected initially.

If a particular telephone menu fails to recognise keypad input, contact Voyced Support before changing the DTMF method.

13. Troubleshooting

Account does not register

Check the following:

  • SIP Server: sip.voyced.eu

  • Domain: sip.voyced.eu

  • Username: Your Voyced DID

  • Login: Your Voyced DID

  • Password: Your Voyced Service Password

  • Transport: UDP

  • SIP Proxy: Empty

Also confirm your internet connection works.

After a successful registration, MicroSIP should display Online with a green indicator.

Incorrect password or authentication error

Check your Voyced DID and Service Password.

Your Service Password is not the same as your Hosted IPPBX web login password.

Re-enter the account password and save.

Calls fail immediately

Confirm your account shows Online.

Check the destination number.

For international calls, use 00.

Make sure sufficient call credit is available and the destination is permitted.

Incoming calls do not ring

Check that:

  • MicroSIP is running.

  • Your account is registered.

  • Do Not Disturb is disabled.

  • Your Windows sound device is working.

  • No conflicting call forwarding is active.

If you use the same account on multiple devices, test with only one device to rule out registration or routing conflicts.

Calls connect, but there is no audio

Check your microphone and speaker settings.

Confirm MicroSIP has microphone permission in Windows.

Make sure PCMU and PCMA are enabled.

Try another internet connection.

If the problem continues, contact Voyced Support.

Audio is poor or breaks up

Check your internet connection.

A stable wired connection often performs better than busy Wi-Fi.

Try another headset or microphone.

MicroSIP also displays call quality information during active calls.

Calls disconnect after a fixed period

Check whether the issue occurs after the same number of seconds or minutes.

Record the exact time and duration and provide these details to Voyced Support.

Keep the Disable Session Timers option unchecked unless specifically advised to change the setting.

Telephone menus do not respond

Open Settings and check DTMF Method.

The standard value is Auto.

If the problem affects one particular destination, contact Voyced Support with the telephone number and an example call time.

Wrong outbound Caller ID

Confirm you selected the correct Voyced account.

Check whether Voyced has previously configured a different outbound Caller ID.

Changing the Display Name in MicroSIP does not replace the authorised telephone number.

MicroSIP appears to have disappeared

MicroSIP often minimises to the Windows system tray.

Look for its icon near the Windows clock.

Select the icon to reopen the application.

Collecting information for support

MicroSIP offers an Enable Log File setting.

If Voyced Support requests additional technical details:

  1. Open MicroSIP > Settings.

  2. Enable Log File.

  3. Reproduce the problem.

  4. Open the log from the MicroSIP system tray menu.

  5. Provide the relevant information to Voyced Support.

Review diagnostic logs before sharing them, as they may contain telephone numbers and technical connection details.

14. Test your connection

After configuring MicroSIP, complete these checks.

Outgoing calls

  1. Confirm MicroSIP displays Online.

  2. Call another telephone number.

  3. Check that the call connects.

  4. Confirm both parties hear each other.

  5. Verify the Caller ID displayed to the recipient.

Incoming calls

  1. Call your Voyced number from another telephone.

  2. Confirm MicroSIP rings.

  3. Answer the call.

  4. Check the audio in both directions.

Voicemail

Dial 1233 and confirm you reach your voicemail service.

International calls

Dial an international number using the 00 prefix.

Background operation

Minimise MicroSIP to the Windows system tray.

Call your Voyced number and confirm the incoming call notification appears.

15. Final setup checklist

Before using MicroSIP for everyday calling, confirm:

  • Your Voyced SIP account shows Online.

  • Outgoing calls work.

  • Incoming calls ring.

  • Audio works in both directions.

  • Your Caller ID is correct.

  • Voicemail works through 1233.

  • International calls use 00.

  • MicroSIP receives calls while minimised.

  • Your microphone and speaker settings are correct.

  • Your chosen audio codecs work properly.

Your MicroSIP softphone is now ready for daily use.
