SIP Trunk Setup for Ericsson-LG iPECS
Use Voyced as an external SIP provider
This guide explains how to connect your Voyced telephone number and SIP trunk to an Ericsson-LG Enterprise iPECS telephone system.
iPECS supports external SIP providers using standard SIP registration with a username, password and SIP server.
Once configured, you can make and receive business telephone calls through Voyced.
This manual covers:
-
iPECS eMG80
-
iPECS eMG100
-
iPECS eMG800
-
iPECS UCP and vUCP
These systems share a similar SIP trunk programming structure.
The instructions use the iPECS Web Administration interface. Menu names may differ slightly between models and software versions.
iPECS Cloud uses a different administration system and is not covered by these instructions.
What You'll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have:
-
Administrator access to your iPECS telephone system
-
Access to the iPECS Web Administration interface
-
A working internet connection
-
At least one configured extension and telephone
-
Available SIP trunk channels and the required VoIP resources
-
Permission to change SIP and call routing settings
-
An active Voyced telephone number
Your Voyced SIP details:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP Server | sip.voyced.eu |
| SIP Username | Your-Voyced-DID |
| SIP Password | YourServicePassword |
| SIP Port | 5060 |
| Transport | UDP |
| Authentication | Username and password |
Replace the example credentials with your actual Voyced service details.
Requirements Before You Begin
Your iPECS system must have sufficient SIP trunk and VoIP capacity.
Before configuring Voyced, check:
-
The PBX supports SIP CO/IP trunks.
-
Enough VoIP channels are available.
-
The required SIP trunk resources are configured.
-
Your PBX has a working IP address and default gateway.
-
DNS resolution is available.
-
The network permits SIP and RTP traffic.
-
Your internal extensions can already make calls.
Recommended audio codecs:
-
G.711 A-law / PCMA
-
G.711 μ-law / PCMU
Use full international telephone numbers without a leading +.
Example:
442012345678
If your existing telephone system uses an outside-line access code, its outgoing routing must remove that code before sending calls to Voyced.
SIP Trunk Setup Steps
1. Log in to iPECS Web Administration
-
Open your web browser.
-
Enter your iPECS system's administration address.
-
Log in using your administrator credentials.
-
Open Web Admin.
-
Select Administration.
The left-hand menu contains programming sections such as:
-
System ID & Numbering Plans
-
Station Data
-
CO Line Data
-
SIP Data
-
Tables Data
Before making changes, save a backup of your current PBX configuration using the available maintenance or backup functions.
2. Check Your Available SIP Channels
iPECS uses CO/IP channels for external telephone connections.
To review the available channels:
-
Navigate to CO Line Data.
-
Open Common Attributes (140).
-
Locate the channels you intend to use for Voyced.
For example, if two channels are available, you might assign:
| Setting | Example |
|---|---|
| First Voyced Channel | 1 |
| Second Voyced Channel | 2 |
| Number of Channels | 2 |
These are example channel numbers.
Use the actual available channels on your system.
If you already use another SIP provider, do not change its assigned channels.
Confirm that the required VoIP resources are available for the number of simultaneous calls your Voyced service supports.
Virtual SIP Channels
Some iPECS installations support virtual registration of SIP trunk channels.
In the device registration settings, a virtual SIP trunk uses:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Device Type | CO |
| Device | VOIM |
| Port Count | Required number of SIP channels |
Only create additional virtual ports if they are required and supported by your installed system.
3. Configure the CO/IP Channels
Open:
CO Line Data → Common Attributes (140)
Select your Voyced CO/IP channel range.
Configure the appropriate external line settings.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| CO Type | DID |
| CO/IP Group | Your selected trunk group |
| Channel State | Enabled |
For example, you may use CO/IP Group 2 if that group is available.
Do not assume a particular group number is unused.
Next, open:
CO Line Data → VoIP Attributes (141)
Locate CO VoIP Mode.
Select:
SIP
This tells iPECS to use SIP for the selected VoIP channels.
Save the configuration.
4. Configure DNS Resolution
The PBX must resolve the Voyced SIP server:
sip.voyced.eu
Navigate to:
SIP Data → SIP Common Attributes (210)
Locate the DNS settings.
Enter:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Primary DNS | Your working DNS server |
| Secondary DNS | Your secondary DNS server, if available |
Use the DNS servers configured for your network.
If DNS is already working correctly, retain the existing settings.
Changing the DNS configuration on some iPECS versions requires a system restart.
Save the settings and apply any restart required by your PBX.
5. Configure the Voyced SIP Server
Navigate to:
SIP Data → SIP CO Attributes (133)
Enter the CO/IP channel range assigned to Voyced.
Click Load.
Configure:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Soft Switch Type | Normal |
| Proxy Server Address | sip.voyced.eu |
| Use Outbound Proxy | ON |
| Connection Mode | UDP |
| Domain | sip.voyced.eu |
| Proxy Server UDP Port | 5060 |
| Proxy Registration Timer | 3600 seconds initially |
The SIP server address must be:
sip.voyced.eu
The Normal soft switch type provides the standard SIP configuration.
The Use Outbound Proxy setting directs SIP requests through the configured proxy server.
The connection mode should be UDP.
Start with a registration interval of 3600 seconds. The actual interval must be accepted by the SIP registrar.
Some versions also provide a secondary proxy server section.
Leave the secondary proxy unconfigured for the initial setup.
Click Save.
6. Configure the SIP User ID Range
Remain in:
SIP Data → SIP CO Attributes (133)
Locate:
Registration UID Range
This identifies which SIP User ID entries the selected channels use for registration.
For a single Voyced SIP account, select one unused SIP User ID table entry.
Example:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Registration UID Range | 1–1 |
| SIP User ID Fixed Table Index | 1 |
In this example, index 1 will contain the Voyced account credentials.
If index 1 is already in use, choose another available index and use it consistently.
The same registration may serve several SIP channels belonging to the same Voyced account.
Do not create a separate registration for every simultaneous call channel.
Save the configuration.
7. Enter Your Voyced Credentials
Navigate to:
SIP Data → SIP User ID Attributes (126)
Enter the SIP User ID index selected in Step 6.
Click Load.
Configure:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Registration User ID | Your-Voyced-DID@sip.voyced.eu |
| Authentication User ID | Your-Voyced-DID |
| Authentication User Password | YourServicePassword |
| Contact Number | Your-Voyced-DID |
| User ID Register | Register |
| User ID Usage | ON |
Registration User ID
This field requires the username and SIP domain.
Example:
442012345678@sip.voyced.eu
Authentication User ID
Enter the SIP username without the domain.
Example:
442012345678
Authentication User Password
Enter your Voyced service password.
User ID Register
Select:
Register
Do not select Provision.
The Register setting tells iPECS to send SIP REGISTER requests to the configured registrar.
The Provision setting is intended for arrangements where the provider delivers calls without SIP registration.
User ID Usage
Set this to:
ON
Click Save.
8. Configure SIP Audio and DTMF
Navigate to:
SIP Data → SIP CO Attributes (133)
Load your Voyced CO/IP channel range.
Locate the codec and DTMF settings.
Recommended configuration:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| First Codec Priority | G.711 A-law |
| Second Codec Priority | G.711 μ-law |
| DTMF Type | RFC2833 |
| Connection Mode | UDP |
If your software exposes five codec priority fields, configure the first two as shown and leave unused priorities at None where supported.
RFC2833 provides keypad signalling for IVR menus and voicemail.
Also review the SIP URI formatting settings.
Where the system offers SIP Method or Telephony Method for the To header, use:
SIP Method
This uses a standard SIP URI rather than a telephone URI that may introduce a leading +.
The exact outgoing number is also affected by your dialling and LCR rules.
Click Save.
9. Configure Outbound Caller ID
Your outgoing calls should present an authorised telephone number.
For the first test, use your Voyced telephone number.
Navigate to:
SIP Data → SIP CO Attributes (133)
Load your Voyced channels.
Find the identity settings.
Relevant options include:
-
From ID
-
P-Asserted-ID
-
SIP User ID Fixed Table Index
For a shared company telephone number, you can select the SIP User ID from the Fixed Table as the From identity.
Example:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| From ID | Fixed Table |
| SIP User ID Fixed Table Index | Your Voyced User ID index |
This allows the outgoing SIP identity to use the configured Voyced account number.
Different Caller IDs for Extensions
If your business uses several authorised telephone numbers, iPECS can also use an extension's outgoing CLI.
The relevant settings include:
-
Station Data → CLI Attributes (113)
-
ISDN Line Data → CLIP/COLP Table (201)
-
CO Line Data → CID/CPN Attributes (151)
The required combination depends on your existing numbering plan.
For the first connection test, use the registered Voyced telephone number as your outbound caller ID.
After confirming the trunk works, configure any additional authorised caller IDs.
10. Configure Outbound Trunk Selection
Your iPECS system must know which CO/IP group contains the Voyced channels.
Navigate to:
CO Line Data → Common Attributes (140)
Confirm that all intended Voyced channels belong to the selected CO/IP group.
Next, review the external line access configuration.
iPECS commonly allows users to access an outside line by dialling:
9
or by selecting a line group.
The actual access codes depend on your PBX numbering plan.
If your system already uses a working outside-line access code, retain it.
Assign the appropriate Voyced CO/IP group to the relevant outbound routing rules.
11. Configure Least Cost Routing
iPECS uses Least Cost Routing, or LCR, to select external telephone lines and modify outgoing numbers.
Navigate to:
Tables Data
The relevant programming sections are:
| Programme | Purpose |
|---|---|
| PGM 220 | LCR Control Attributes |
| PGM 221 | LCR Leading Digit Table |
| PGM 222 | LCR Digit Modification Table |
LCR Control Attributes
Open:
LCR Control Attributes (220)
Review the existing LCR access mode.
The system supports several modes, including:
-
Loop LCR
-
Internal LCR
-
Direct CO LCR
If your installation already uses Loop LCR, you can assign the Voyced trunk group through the existing routing configuration.
LCR Leading Digit Table
Open:
LCR Leading Digit Table (221)
Create or adjust the entry that matches your intended outgoing destinations.
LCR Digit Modification Table
Open:
LCR Digit Modification Table (222)
Select your Voyced CO/IP group.
Configure the digit modification so the destination reaches Voyced in full international format.
Example:
An internal user dials:
9442012345678
If 9 is your PBX outside-line access code, the number sent through Voyced must be:
442012345678
The outside-line access code must not form part of the external destination.
If your users dial international numbers with a prefix such as 00, configure the appropriate digit modification.
Example:
00442012345678
becomes:
442012345678
Do not remove digits blindly. The correct rule depends on your existing LCR access mode and dialling plan.
Keep emergency and special-service routes unchanged unless the intended new route has been confirmed to support them.
Save the LCR settings.
12. Configure Inbound Call Routing
iPECS supports several methods for handling incoming SIP calls.
The SIP account's Ring Route Type determines how calls are delivered.
Navigate to:
SIP Data → SIP User ID Attributes (126)
Load your Voyced SIP User ID entry.
Locate:
Ring Route Type
Available options include:
-
ID Assigned Station
-
Ring Assignment
-
DID Conversion
-
MSN-DID Conversion
For a single Voyced number routed to reception, Ring Assignment is a suitable starting point.
For several telephone numbers with different destinations, use the appropriate DID conversion method.
13. Configure a Single Incoming Number
If all calls to your Voyced number should reach the same extension or group:
-
Open SIP User ID Attributes (126).
-
Select your Voyced SIP User ID index.
-
Set Ring Route Type to Ring Assignment.
-
Save.
Next, navigate to:
CO Line Data → CO/IP Ring Assignment (144)
Select the Voyced channels.
Configure the incoming destination for each operating mode.
Example:
| Ring Mode | Destination |
|---|---|
| Day | Reception |
| Night | Reception or voicemail |
| Timed | Reception |
The destination may be an extension or an existing station group, depending on your PBX configuration.
For example, you might direct calls to extension 100.
Save the changes.
This method is suitable when one incoming destination is sufficient.
14. Configure Multiple Incoming Numbers
If your Voyced account has several telephone numbers that require different destinations, use DID-based routing.
Navigate to:
SIP Data → SIP User ID Attributes (126)
Load the Voyced SIP User ID entry.
Configure:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Ring Route Type | DID Conversion |
| DID Conversion Type | Modify Using Flexible DID Conversion Table |
Save the settings.
Next, open:
CO Line Data → DID Service Attributes (145)
For the relevant channels, select the DID conversion method required by your numbering plan.
Then navigate to:
Tables Data → Flexible DID Conversion Table (231)
This table maps incoming DID values to internal destinations.
Example Incoming Destinations
| Voyced Telephone Number | Destination |
|---|---|
| Primary Voyced number | Reception |
| Additional Voyced number | Sales |
| Additional Voyced number | Support |
DID Digit Handling
iPECS uses DID digit conversion settings to produce an internal routing index.
Some eMG and UCP firmware versions use two to four digits for this conversion step.
For example, an incoming number may be:
442012345678
You might use an internal routing index such as:
101
to select the reception destination.
The conversion from the received number to that index must be configured correctly.
First confirm the called number presented by the incoming SIP INVITE.
Then select the matching DID conversion method and digit mask supported by your system.
Avoid assuming that the PBX will automatically convert a full international number into the required internal index.
15. Configure the Flexible DID Conversion Table
Open:
Tables Data → Flexible DID Conversion Table (231)
Select the routing index you intend to use.
Configure the destination for each operating mode.
Example:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Table Index | 101 |
| Day Destination | Reception extension |
| Night Destination | Reception or voicemail |
| Timed Destination | Reception |
| Reroute Destination | Your backup destination |
The table supports destination types such as:
-
Station
-
Station Group
-
Voicemail or announcement
-
Other supported PBX destinations
Use the actual destination types and numbers configured on your telephone system.
Repeat for additional DID routing indexes.
For example:
| DID Index | Destination |
|---|---|
| 101 | Reception |
| 102 | Sales Group |
| 103 | Support Group |
Save the configuration.
Check that every DID conversion produces the intended table index.
16. Configure Extension Calling Permissions
Your internal extensions must be allowed to access the Voyced CO/IP group.
Navigate to:
Station Data
Review the relevant settings:
| Programme | Purpose |
|---|---|
| PGM 116 | Station Class of Service |
| PGM 117 | CO/IP Group Access |
Open:
CO/IP Group Access (117)
Check that the extensions permitted to use Voyced have access to the correct CO/IP group.
Next, review:
Station COS (116)
Confirm that the relevant users are allowed to place the required external calls.
For example:
| Extension | Permission |
|---|---|
| Reception | External calls permitted |
| Sales | External calls permitted |
| Meeting Room | Internal calls only |
The available restrictions depend on your PBX configuration.
Save the settings.
17. Configure Simultaneous Calls
Your available simultaneous calls depend on:
-
The Voyced service capacity
-
The number of enabled SIP CO/IP channels
-
The available VoIP resources
-
Any limits configured on your PBX
For example:
| Setting | Example |
|---|---|
| Enabled SIP Channels | 2 |
| Available Simultaneous Calls | According to your service |
Use the actual capacity of your Voyced service.
Do not allocate additional channels unless your PBX and service support them.
18. Configure Firewall and NAT
Your iPECS PBX must communicate with:
sip.voyced.eu
Recommended network settings:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP Server | sip.voyced.eu |
| SIP Destination Port | UDP 5060 |
| SIP Registration | Enabled |
| SIP Transport | UDP |
| RTP Ports | According to your iPECS configuration |
If the PBX operates behind a router performing NAT, check:
-
The PBX's IP address and default gateway.
-
The configured public signalling address, where applicable.
-
RTP port handling.
-
Firewall session timeouts.
-
SIP ALG behaviour.
The RTP port range depends on your installed iPECS model and VoIP resources.
Use the actual configured range rather than assuming a fixed port range applies to every system.
Save any changes.
19. Verify SIP Registration
Navigate to:
SIP Data → SIP Registration Status Overview
This page displays the SIP registration state.
Look for the Voyced SIP User ID.
Expected result:
Registered
You can also open:
SIP Data → SIP Trunk Status Overview
This shows the configured proxy, domain, SIP trunk channels and related connection information.
If registration has not succeeded:
-
Open SIP CO Attributes (133).
-
Confirm the server and domain.
-
Open SIP User ID Attributes (126).
-
Confirm the username and password.
-
Check the Registration User ID includes the SIP domain.
-
Confirm User ID Register is set to Register.
-
Save any corrections.
Where required, use the UnRegister and Register actions on the SIP CO Attributes page to refresh the registration.
Avoid doing this during active calls.
