If your device (User Agent) shows “registered” but you hear a message like “This account does not exist” or “Account is blocked” when making a call, don’t worry, this is expected behaviour in some cases and not a security issue.
What’s really happening
Our Hosted IPPBX doesn’t allow unauthorised access.
If your SIP device tries to register using:
-
The wrong username or password, or
-
An account that’s blocked
The system will reject the registration request. But to simplify troubleshooting, it still sends a response that some devices interpret as a successful registration.
This is why your User Agent may still show “registered”, even though the account wasn’t actually accepted.
Why the audio message?
When you try to place a call from an invalid or blocked account:
-
The system sends the call to our media server
-
The server plays a voice message, such as:
-
“This account does not exist”
-
“Account is blocked”
-
“Invalid login details”
-
This approach helps identify the issue clearly and quickly, without affecting system security.
What should you do next?
-
Double-check the SIP username and password you’re using
-
Make sure the account is active and not blocked in your Client area
-
Try making a call again to confirm the error message
If you're still unsure, feel free to contact support, we’ll be happy to help.
