NEC UNIVERGE SV9100 / SV9300

SIP Trunk Setup for NEC UNIVERGE SV9100 / SV9300

Use Voyced as an external SIP provider

This guide explains how to connect your Voyced telephone number and SIP trunk to an NEC UNIVERGE SV9100 or SV9300 telephone system.

Both systems support external SIP trunks using username and password authentication. With the correct hardware, licences and settings, you can use Voyced for incoming and outgoing business calls.

The two models use different programming methods. Follow the instructions for your specific system.

This guide covers:

  • NEC UNIVERGE SV9100 using PCPro or WebPro

  • NEC UNIVERGE SV9300 using PCPro and system commands

SIP Trunk Setup Steps

1. Identify Your NEC Model

First, confirm which telephone system you have.

Model Configuration Method Main SIP Registration Settings
SV9100 PCPro / WebPro Programmes 10-29 and 10-36
SV9300 PCPro / System Data CM BA SIP trunk profile

The following steps cover the SV9100 first.

If you have an SV9300, continue directly to Step 12.

2. SV9100: Log in to PCPro or WebPro

  1. Open NEC PCPro or WebPro.

  2. Connect to your SV9100.

  3. Log in using your administrator or installer credentials.

  4. Read the current PBX configuration.

  5. Save a backup before making changes.

The SV9100 uses numbered programming sections.

For example:

  • 10-29: SIP Server Information Setup

  • 10-36: SIP Trunk Registration Information Setup

  • 14-05: Trunk Group

  • 22-02: Incoming Call Trunk Setup

3. SV9100: Check SIP Trunk Resources

Before configuring Voyced, check that SIP trunk channels are available.

Open:

10-68: IP Trunk Availability

Review the available IP trunk resources.

Setting Value
Trunk Type 1, SIP
Start Port Your available SIP trunk starting port
Number of Ports Required number of SIP channels

For example, if your installation has four licensed SIP trunk channels, allocate four available ports.

Also check the relevant DSP and VoIP resource settings.

The exact hardware and licence requirements depend on your SV9100 configuration.

Do not change ports already assigned to another working provider.

Save the configuration.

4. SV9100: Configure DNS

Voyced uses the hostname:

sip.voyced.eu

Your PBX must be able to resolve this address.

Open:

10-67: SIP Stack Configuration Setup

Configure:

Programme Setting Value
10-67-01 DNS Mode 1, Enable
10-67-02 DNS IP Address Your DNS server
10-67-03 DNS Port 53

Use a working DNS server available from your PBX network.

For example, this may be your organisation's local DNS resolver.

The SV9100 SIP stack supports one configured DNS server in this programming section.

Save the settings.

5. SV9100: Configure the Voyced SIP Server

Open:

10-29: SIP Server Information Setup

Select an available SIP profile.

For example, use SIP Profile 1 if it is not already assigned to another provider.

Enter:

Programme Setting Value
10-29-01 Outbound Default Proxy 1, On
10-29-04 Default Proxy Port 5060
10-29-05 Registrar Mode 1, Manual
10-29-07 Registrar Port 5060
10-29-11 Registrar Domain Name sip.voyced.eu
10-29-12 Proxy Domain Name voyced.eu
10-29-13 Proxy Host Name sip
10-29-14 SIP Carrier Choice 0, Standard initially
10-29-15 Registration Expiry 3600 seconds
10-29-20 Authentication Trial 2

The Proxy Domain Name and Proxy Host Name combine to form:

sip.voyced.eu

The Registrar Mode must be enabled.

Some NEC guides for other SIP providers use Registrar Mode 0, which disables registration. This is not the correct starting setting for the standard Voyced connection.

The registration expiry is negotiated with the SIP server. If the server specifies a different interval, use the accepted value.

Register Sub Mode

Programme 10-29-16 controls how strictly the PBX compares incoming SIP requests with registration details.

Start with its existing/default setting.

If registration succeeds but incoming calls fail with SIP 404 Not Found, inspect the incoming SIP headers and review this setting.

NAT Router

If your SV9100 operates behind NAT, review:

10-29-21: NAT Router

Enable this setting when NAT is used and configure the applicable network settings.

Click Apply.

6. SV9100: Enter Your Voyced SIP Credentials

Open:

10-36: SIP Trunk Registration Information Setup

Select an available registration ID associated with the Voyced SIP profile.

Configure:

Programme Setting Value
10-36-01 Registration 1, Enable
10-36-02 User ID Your-Voyced-DID
10-36-03 Authentication User ID Your-Voyced-DID
10-36-04 Authentication Password YourServicePassword

The User ID and Authentication User ID should use your full Voyced SIP username.

For example:

442012345678

Save the settings.

7. SV9100: Assign the SIP Profile to the Trunk Ports

The SIP profile must be associated with the correct trunk ports.

Open:

14-18: IP Trunk Data Setup

Locate:

14-18-05: SIP Profile

Assign the Voyced SIP profile to the required ports.

Example:

Trunk Port SIP Profile
Your first Voyced trunk port Profile 1
Your second Voyced trunk port Profile 1
Your third Voyced trunk port Profile 1
Your fourth Voyced trunk port Profile 1

Next, review:

14-12: SIP Register ID Setup for IP Trunks

Where the system uses multiple registration IDs, assign the appropriate Voyced registration ID to the selected SIP trunk ports.

Do not create separate SIP logins for additional channels belonging to the same Voyced account.

Save the configuration.

8. SV9100: Configure SIP Transport and Audio

Open:

10-28: SIP System Information Setup

Confirm:

Programme Setting Value
10-28-03 Transport Protocol 0, UDP

Next, open:

84-14: SIP Trunk Basic Information Setup

Review:

Programme Setting Value
84-14-06 SIP Trunk Port Number Keep the correct local SIP port
84-14-10 URL Type SIP URL
84-14-11 URL/To Header Setting Proxy Server Domain

The local SIP port is the port used by the NEC system.

It does not necessarily have to be the same as Voyced's destination port 5060.

If you use multiple SIP profiles, each profile must have a suitable, non-conflicting local SIP port.

Audio Codecs

Open:

84-13: SIP Trunk Codec Information

Enable the following codecs:

Codec Setting
G.711 A-law Enabled
G.711 μ-law Enabled
G.729 Not required for the initial setup

DTMF

Open:

84-34: VoIPDB DTMF Setup

Select the RFC2833-compatible DTMF relay mode.

This supports telephone keypad input for IVR menus and voicemail.

Save the configuration.

9. SV9100: Configure Outbound Caller ID

Open:

21-17: IP Trunk (SIP) Calling Party Number Setup for Trunk

Enter your authorised Voyced telephone number for the relevant trunk ports.

Example:

Your-Voyced-DID

For individual extension caller IDs, open:

21-19: IP Trunk (SIP) Calling Party Number Setup for Extension

Example:

Extension Outbound Caller ID
201 Your-Voyced-DID
202 Your-Voyced-DID
203 Your-Voyced-DID

Extension-specific settings may take priority over the trunk-level number.

Use only telephone numbers authorised for presentation through your Voyced account.

10. SV9100: Configure Outbound Call Routing

NEC SV9100 uses trunk groups and Automatic Route Selection, also called ARS, for outbound calls.

Open:

14-05: Trunk Group

Assign the Voyced SIP ports to an available trunk group.

For example:

Setting Example
Trunk Group 3
Assigned Trunks Your Voyced SIP ports

Trunk Group 3 is an example.

Next, open:

14-06: Trunk Group Routing

Add the Voyced trunk group to the routing table used by the relevant extensions.

If your organisation uses ARS, review:

  • 26-01: ARS Service

  • 26-02: Dial Analysis Table for ARS/LCR

  • 11-09: Trunk Access Code

Example: Dialling with Prefix 9

Many NEC installations use 9 to access an outside line.

A user dials:

9442012345678

The PBX must send the following number to Voyced:

442012345678

The outside-line access code must not reach Voyced as part of the destination telephone number.

Confirm that the existing trunk access and ARS rules handle this correctly.

Do not add another dialling prefix if your PBX already has working international dialling rules.

Keep existing emergency and special-service routing unchanged.

11. SV9100: Configure Incoming DID Routing

To direct incoming Voyced calls to the correct extension, configure DID routing.

Open:

22-02: Incoming Call Trunk Setup

For the Voyced SIP trunk ports, set the Incoming Service Type to:

3 - DID

Apply the required configuration for your operating modes.

Next, open:

22-09: DID Basic Data Setup

Set the number of incoming DID digits that the system should use for routing.

The SV9100 DID translation table supports matching up to eight received digits.

This matters when the incoming Voyced number contains more than eight digits.

For example, the complete telephone number might be:

442012345678

The routing configuration might instead use the final eight digits:

12345678

To use a shorter DID match, first confirm the incoming digit format and ensure that the selected digits uniquely identify the correct number.

Next, review:

22-10: DID Translation Table Setup

Assign the correct translation table.

Then open:

22-11: DID Translation Number Conversion

Enter:

Setting Value
Received Number The DID digits used for matching
Target Number Your receiving extension
DID Name Voyced Reception

Example:

Field Value
Received Number 12345678
Target Number 201
DID Name Reception

The extension must already exist.

If you have several Voyced telephone numbers, create separate translation entries using unique DID matches.

Save the configuration.

SV9100 setup is now complete. Continue to the Testing Your Setup section.

12. SV9300: Log in to PCPro

The SV9300 uses a different SIP trunk architecture from the SV9100.

  1. Open NEC SV9300 PCPro.

  2. Connect to your PBX.

  3. Log in using your authorised installer or administrator credentials.

  4. Read the current configuration.

  5. Save a backup.

Check the installed software version.

NEC's documented SIP trunk configurations include systems running version 3.2.1 and later, although supported features depend on the installed release.

13. SV9300: Check SIP Licences and Network Resources

Review:

CM F88: SIP Trunk Port Licences

Confirm sufficient licensed SIP channels are available.

Next, check the installed VoIPDB and IP PAD resources.

The SV9300 uses separate resources for:

  • SIP trunk voice channels

  • SIP signalling control

  • RTP media

Verify that your installation supports the required number of simultaneous calls.

14. SV9300: Configure the Network

Open:

CM 0B1xx: Network Setup

Select the system unit containing the SIP trunk resources.

Configure the relevant network settings.

Field Setting Value
00 VoIPDB IP Address Your VoIP network IP
01 Subnet Mask Your network mask
02 Default Gateway Your network gateway
36 Local SIP Port Keep the existing correct value
60 Primary DNS Server Your DNS server
61 Secondary DNS Server Your secondary DNS server, if used

The local SIP port is the port on which the SV9300 receives SIP signalling.

It is separate from Voyced's SIP destination port.

If your existing local SIP port works correctly, leave it unchanged.

If Your SV9300 Is Behind NAT

Review the global IP address setting under the relevant CM 0B network section.

The correct value depends on your network.

For systems using multiple SIP profiles, also review the profile-specific global IP setting.

Some network changes require an SV9300 restart.

Save your changes before restarting.

15. SV9300: Configure IP PAD Resources

Open:

CM 0B2xx: IP PAD Network Settings

Check:

Field Setting
00 IP PAD IP Address
10 Number of IP PAD Channels
40 RTP Base Port

The IP PAD handles RTP telephone audio.

Confirm sufficient channels are available.

Retain the existing RTP base port unless your network configuration requires a change.

A working SIP registration does not guarantee successful audio if the IP PAD network configuration is incorrect.

Save the settings.

16. SV9300: Allocate SIP Trunk Ports

Open:

CM 1003: SIP Trunk Port Allocation

Assign the required SIP trunk voice channels.

Then review:

CM 30: SIP Trunk Port Settings

Configure the relevant trunk ports and channel identification codes.

For a system using four SIP trunk voice channels, the allocation might contain four consecutive available trunk ports.

Use the actual trunk ports allocated to your system.

Do not copy another installation's port numbers without checking whether they are available.

17. SV9300: Configure SIP Trunk Routing

Open:

CM 35: SIP Trunk Route Settings

Select an available trunk route.

The relevant fields include:

CM 35 Field Purpose
000 SIP trunk service
004 SIP trunk route service setting
009 SIP trunk service type
018 DID digit conversion
020 SIP trunk service
090 SIP trunk signalling configuration
091 SIP Control Channel assignment
170–172 DID digit conversion settings

Configure the selected route for SIP trunk service.

The control channel must match the control channel you configure in the following step.

Use a separate, correctly assigned control channel for each SIP trunk server connection.

18. SV9300: Configure the SIP Control Channel

Open:

CM A7: SIP Trunk Control Channel Settings

Select an available SIP control channel.

The relevant settings include:

Field Purpose
01 Originating Point Code
02 Destination Point Code
71 SIP Trunk Profile Number
77 Manual Registration
78 System Unit Number

Assign an unused SIP trunk profile.

The system uses this profile to identify the SIP provider configuration.

Next, open:

CM A8: SIP Trunk Destination Point Code Settings

Associate the destination point code with the correct SIP control channel.

Make sure the profile, trunk route and control channel refer to the same Voyced connection.

19. SV9300: Configure the Voyced SIP Profile

Open:

CM BA: SIP Trunk Profile Settings

Select the SIP profile allocated in Step 18.

This is the main configuration area for the Voyced connection.

Configure:

Field Setting Value
BA25 DNS Query 0, DNS query provided
BA30 SIP Server IP Address Leave unused when DNS is enabled
BA31 SIP Server Port 05060
BA32 Main DID Number Your-Voyced-DID
BA45 SIP Account User Name Your-Voyced-DID
BA70 SIP Registration Method 0, Registration required
BA72 SIP Authentication Username Your-Voyced-DID
BA74 SIP Authentication Password YourServicePassword
BA76 SIP Server Domain Name sip.voyced.eu
BA93 SIP Account Domain sip.voyced.eu

These settings enable DNS-based SIP registration to Voyced.

For example:

CM BA25>00>0
CM BA31>00>05060
CM BA32>00>Your-Voyced-DID
CM BA45>00>Your-Voyced-DID
CM BA70>00>0
CM BA72>00>Your-Voyced-DID
CM BA74>00>YourServicePassword
CM BA76>00>sip.voyced.eu
CM BA93>00>sip.voyced.eu

In this example, 00 is the selected SIP profile number.

Replace it with the profile assigned to your connection.

Also replace the username and password placeholders.

For the SV9300, the registration method value is:

0 = Registration Required

Do not confuse this with the SV9100, where the equivalent Registrar Mode uses value 1.

The two systems use different programming conventions.

20. SV9300: Configure Audio and DTMF

In the same CM BA profile, review:

Field Purpose
BA21 Codec List Selection
BA22 RTP Payload Size
BA53 DTMF Signalling
BA121–123 Codec Priority, when programmable list is used

Recommended audio codecs:

  1. G.711 A-law

  2. G.711 μ-law

Set DTMF signalling to RFC2833.

For the applicable profile:

CM BA53>00>03

This selects out-of-band RFC2833 DTMF.

Keep the RTP payload setting at the working default unless your system requires adjustment.

Where a programmable codec list is enabled, select G.711 as the preferred codec family.

Do not force G.729 for the initial Voyced connection.

21. SV9300: Configure Telephone Number Formatting

Voyced expects full international telephone numbers without a leading +.

Example:

442012345678

The SV9300 provides number-format controls in its SIP trunk profile and outbound routing settings.

Review:

CM BA117: Plus Digit Addition/Deletion

Configure this setting so the outgoing SIP Request-URI does not contain a leading +.

Also review the outbound number conversion settings under the system's LCR configuration.

For example, if a user dials an outside-line access code:

9442012345678

the number sent to Voyced should be:

442012345678

Check that no route adds an unnecessary national prefix or converts the number to another format.

22. SV9300: Configure Incoming DID Routing

Incoming calls must reach the correct extension or department.

The SV9300 uses DID digit conversion and development tables.

Open:

CM 35: SIP Trunk Route Settings

Review:

Field Purpose
170 DID Development Table Selection
171 Number of Digits to Convert
172 Number of Digits Received

Select the correct DID development table for the Voyced trunk.

The number of received digits must match the actual DID format delivered to the PBX.

Next, review:

CM 7690: DID Digit Conversion

Associate the received DID with the appropriate conversion block.

Then open the related:

CM 76: DID Digit Conversion Table

Assign the destination extension.

For example:

Setting Example
Incoming DID 442012345678
DID Conversion Block Your chosen block
Destination Extension 2000

The conversion rules must match the received telephone number.

If your NEC system uses shorter DID matching, select digits that uniquely identify the intended destination.

Save the configuration.

23. SV9300: Configure Outbound Routing

The SV9300 uses trunk routes and Least Cost Routing, also called LCR.

Open the existing outbound routing configuration.

Review:

CM 8A: LCR Development Table

Configure the relevant destination pattern to select the Voyced SIP trunk route.

The route must reference the correct SIP trunk group and channel allocation.

If your PBX already uses external providers, add Voyced to the appropriate destination rules rather than replacing working routes.

Example:

Destination Route
Selected international numbers Voyced SIP Trunk
Existing internal routing Keep existing
Emergency calls Keep the approved emergency route

Ensure the telephone number sent through the selected route uses full international digits-only format.

Save the settings.

24. SV9300: Configure Outbound Caller ID

The SV9300 supports caller ID settings through its SIP trunk profile and station configuration.

Review:

  • The SIP account number in CM BA32

  • The SIP account username in CM BA45

  • The From-header format in CM BA92

  • The applicable station caller ID settings

For the initial setup, use:

Your-Voyced-DID

as the authorised outbound telephone number.

If your system uses separate network identity headers, confirm those settings are compatible with your authorised caller ID.

Avoid changing identity header settings unnecessarily.

25. Save and Activate the Configuration

After completing the programming for your model:

  1. Review the SIP server settings.

  2. Confirm the registration credentials.

  3. Confirm the correct trunk ports and routes.

  4. Save the PBX configuration.

  5. Apply the changes.

  6. Restart the relevant services or PBX only if required by NEC.

Some network or VoIP resource changes require a system restart.

Once the system is ready, test SIP registration before placing calls.

Testing Your Setup

Registration Test

Confirm that your NEC system successfully registers with:

sip.voyced.eu

For the SV9100, review the SIP registration and profile information in PCPro or WebPro.

For the SV9300, review the SIP trunk registration status and relevant control-channel diagnostics.

Where SIP tracing is available, look for the following sequence:

REGISTER
401 Unauthorized
REGISTER with authentication
200 OK

A 401 Unauthorized response can be a normal authentication challenge.

The final 200 OK confirms successful registration.

Inbound Test

  1. Call your Voyced telephone number from an external mobile telephone.

  2. Confirm the NEC PBX receives the incoming SIP call.

  3. Check the DID number matches the configured route.

  4. Confirm the correct extension or group rings.

  5. Answer the call.

  6. Check audio in both directions.

For multiple Voyced numbers, test each DID separately.

Outbound Test

  1. Pick up a telephone connected to your NEC PBX.

  2. Dial an external number using your system's normal outside-line access method.

  3. Confirm the call uses the Voyced SIP trunk.

  4. Check that the destination rings.

  5. Verify two-way audio.

  6. Confirm the correct caller ID appears.

Example number sent to Voyced:

442012345678

The number must not contain an unnecessary access prefix or leading +.

Troubleshooting

SIP Registration Fails

Check:

  • SIP server is sip.voyced.eu

  • Username is Your-Voyced-DID

  • Password is YourServicePassword

  • Registrar or registration mode is enabled

  • DNS resolution works

  • SIP destination port is 5060

  • Transport is UDP

For SV9100, check:

  • Programme 10-29

  • Programme 10-36

  • Programme 10-67

  • SIP profile and registration ID assignments

For SV9300, check:

  • CM BA25

  • CM BA70

  • CM BA72

  • CM BA74

  • CM BA76

  • CM BA93

401 or 407 Error

These responses indicate authentication is required.

An initial challenge is normal.

If authentication repeatedly fails, check:

  • SIP username

  • Authentication username

  • Service password

  • SIP domain

  • Authentication realm

403 Error

Check:

  • Account status

  • SIP authentication

  • Outbound calling permissions

  • Caller ID authorisation

  • Any account restrictions

404 Error

Check:

  • Destination telephone number

  • Incoming DID matching

  • SIP Request-URI

  • Trunk routing

  • Number conversion

  • Which server returned the error

For SV9100, also review the Register Sub Mode setting when incoming calls fail.

Incoming Calls Do Not Ring

Check:

  • SIP registration

  • Incoming trunk routing

  • DID configuration

  • Received telephone number format

  • Destination extension

  • Operating mode, such as Day or Night

SV9100

Check:

  • 22-02: Incoming Call Trunk Setup

  • 22-09: DID Basic Data Setup

  • 22-10: DID Translation Table

  • 22-11: DID Translation Number Conversion

Remember that the SV9100 DID translation table supports up to eight received digits.

SV9300

Check:

  • CM 35 DID conversion settings

  • CM 7690

  • CM 76

  • SIP trunk route and control-channel assignments

Outbound Calls Fail

Check:

  • SIP registration

  • Trunk port allocation

  • Trunk group

  • ARS or LCR routing

  • Number formatting

  • Caller ID

  • Account credit

  • Simultaneous call capacity

Outbound Number Has the Wrong Format

The final destination must be in international digits-only format.

For example:

442012345678

Check that the PBX is not adding:

  • An internal trunk access code

  • An unnecessary national prefix

  • A leading +

For SV9300, review CM BA117 and the LCR number conversion settings.

For SV9100, review the ARS rules and outgoing digit handling.

One-Way Audio

Check:

  • DSP or IP PAD configuration

  • RTP port settings

  • Firewall rules

  • NAT configuration

  • Public IP address

  • Audio codec negotiation

  • SIP ALG

SIP registration and RTP audio use separate parts of the network connection.

A successful registration does not guarantee that telephone audio is working.

Calls Disconnect After Approximately 30 Seconds

Check:

  • SIP ACK delivery

  • NAT handling

  • Firewall timeouts

  • SIP signalling addresses

  • Session timers

Incorrect Outbound Caller ID

Check:

  • Trunk-level caller ID

  • Extension-level caller ID

  • SIP From header settings

  • Authorised telephone numbers

Use a number authorised for presentation through your Voyced service.

Registration Works but Calls Still Fail

A successful SIP registration confirms that the account has authenticated.

It does not confirm the call routing.

Test these separately:

  1. SIP registration

  2. Incoming DID matching

  3. Outbound trunk selection

  4. Number formatting

  5. Caller ID

  6. Two-way audio

Final Tips

  • Keep the SIP server set to sip.voyced.eu.

  • Use your Voyced telephone number as the SIP authentication username.

  • Use your Voyced service password for registration.

  • Confirm sufficient SIP trunk licences and VoIP resources.

  • Enable DNS resolution for the SIP server hostname.

  • Use the correct registration settings for your NEC model.

  • Use UDP port 5060 as the SIP destination port.

  • Enable G.711 A-law and G.711 μ-law for audio compatibility.

  • Configure the correct trunk group and outbound routing.

  • Use international telephone numbers without a leading +.

  • Match incoming DIDs to the correct extensions or groups.

  • Preserve existing emergency and special-service routes.

  • Test registration, inbound calling and outbound calling separately.

NEC UNIVERGE SV9100 and SV9300 systems support external SIP trunks using registration and authentication.

With the correct NEC programming, licences and call routing, you can connect your telephone system to Voyced for incoming and outgoing business calls.
