You may remember that we had to postpone the upgrade of our platform to v4.5 in October 2015 because of some possible technical (network) issues.
We have tackled these and are now going ahead with the upgrade of the Voyced platform to the next stable version in the weekend of the 7th and 8th of May 2016.

2 weeks after this upgrade we will do the next upgrade to the next stable version which will be version v5.0 but we will create separate announcements for that.

Description:

This upgrade has been and still will be tested very extensively in our testing environment before actual implementation so that the upgrade on the live systems should go through quickly and without a flaw. Most of the work will be done without any significant impact on the live systems, but to apply certain changes reboots might be necessary. Reboots can cause up to 10 minutes of downtime. 

Once we get closer to the actual upgrade dates we will know better what the impact will or might be, what steps will be implemented on what dates and in what times slots.
We will update this announcement as we go along.

Service Affected: Step 1 involves 

  • update the Configuration Server and reboot to the new release
  • update the rest of the Servers and test reboot to the new partition and the reverse

Impact: Major Impact

Start Date: Friday, 6th of May 2016, 09:00 PM (GMT+1)
End Date: Saturday, 7th of May 2016, 04:00 AM (GMT+1). We will, however, strive to keep this as short as possible.

Status Report: Service Status

Description:
This stage requires the minimum of downtime and will allow us to check that the update to the new release is successfully performed and to determine if there are any network issues.
Reboots can cause up to 10 minutes of downtime and these will only occur between 01:00 and 04:00 on the 7th of May.

 

Service Affected: Step 2 involves 

  • update the Database (during this period all services will be stopped)
  • permanently reboot to the new partition
  • apply the new configuration

Impact: Major Impact

Start Date: Sunday, 8th of May 2016, 01:00 AM (GMT+1)
End Date: Sunday, 8th of May 2016, 06:00 AM (GMT+1). We will, however, strive to keep this as short as possible.

Status Report: Service Status

Description:
The main downtime occurs during the Database update. The servers will be rebooted several times. During the Database update and server reboots, Hosted IPPBX and SIP services will be down. The downtime for this second part of the upgrade can take up to 4 hours. SIP servers will be prioritised to minimise downtime on calls. Since the configuration server will be updated to new release during the 1st stage, the logging features might (temporarily) be affected.
